Artificial Intelligence
Things happens slowly then the happen quickly. We are at the inflection point and I'm not sure how this plays out, but all I know is this is the Cambrian explosion moment for AI where the change in pace and widespread adoption will happen faster than we can possibly anticipate. The is the single biggest change to how the world works and has implications for every single industry, ethics simply will not be able to keep up and to apply reasonable ethical insight in hindsight is going to be difficult. Political correctness does not equal ethics, too many confuse this today.
The quality of results for general knowledge is amazing from various AI models (incl. ChatGPT) but specific and highly detailed information on various topics is not quite there yet, many people have recognised this and used it as an argument to dismiss AI today. Specialised AI will develop quickly as it will attract both more capital and engineers, the quality of results will improve immensely.

Not trying to be pessimistic, but this stuff is a sci-fi writers wet dream. Everything has changed in an instant and most are none the wiser.
